Everything that makes a person human, their memories, their emotions and their interactions with the greater world form the human experience I seek to investigate. My paintings depict figures learning to exist, to be alive.  

      The human experience is both heartbreakingly lonely and yet filled with beautiful moments of joy and nostalgia. By employing comedic narratives I am able to show light hearted moments in time, the core memories that form a person's relationship with others and their world. In contrast, works that explore darker themes and emotions are just as significant to my overall investigation of humanity, but use symbolic motifs and expressive body language to portray the struggles of existence - fears, loneliness, violence and alienation.​

          My artwork is largely based on my own personal experience navigating life, yet I am influenced by glimpses of other people's lives that are revealed to me. I believe in shared experience and universal emotions, my own stories can evoke the same feelings of nostalgia found in others. These feelings, experiences, and thoughts are both my own and shared by others as a larger representation of humanity.
